GTA VI activities and minigames

The official video Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look shows thirteen activities with direct participation, a HUD or on-screen controls. Rockstar has published no list of their names or rules, so this guide separates what the footage proves from what merely appears in the background.

GTA VI activities and minigames: basketball, workouts, racing and parachuting

The thirteen activities with playable evidence

Basketball, bench press, airboat, cave diving, jumping in and swimming, jet ski, binoculars, kayak, throwing money at the club, circuit racing, shooting range, motocross racing and a BASE jump with a parachute. In all thirteen you see the player at the controls, a dedicated HUD or an on-screen button prompt, which is why they are on this list and not the next one. Whether these are all the game has is impossible to claim: it is what a twenty-seven minute cut shows, not a catalogue.

Sport and gym: basketball and weights

At 17:13 Jason holds the ball in front of a hoop and the HUD reads AIM L2 and SHOOT R2, so it is a controllable interaction. The video does not confirm full matches, teams or statistics. At 17:19 Lucia does a bench press with alternating L2 and R2 prompts, which confirms the exercise as an activity. That training changes her build or her attributes, the way it did in GTA: San Andreas, is OUR EXPECTATION based on series history, not something the video shows.

Water: diving, kayak, jet ski and airboat

Four of the thirteen happen on water, which fits a state of coast and wetlands. At 17:10 an airboat crosses a swamp with the minimap active. At 17:16 a character with a tank and fins moves through an underwater cave and the HUD keeps a status bar. At 17:23, the jump from a jetty and the swim; at 17:25, a jet ski; at 17:29, one of the protagonists paddles a kayak through the canals. The binoculars at 17:27, with a reticle and a zoom prompt, are an observation tool rather than a separate minigame.

Racing, shooting range and parachuting

These are the ones with a dedicated interface, the clearest sign that rules sit behind them. The circuit race at 17:42 shows lap, position among sixteen entrants and a timer. The motocross race at 18:35 repeats the pattern with twelve and adds rivals on the minimap. The shooting range at 18:31 counts remaining targets, time and a bonus for an instant knockdown. And at 18:49 Lucia jumps from a high point, free-falls and opens her parachute over Vice City.

Watching livestreams inside the game

Between 18:24 and 18:28, mid-chase, a vertical broadcast appears with comments, a viewer counter and a VIEW LIVESTREAM prompt. That confirms an interface for opening a stream inside the game world. It does not prove the player can broadcast at will, monetise content or run a full social network: those are readings going around, not something the cut shows.

What appears but is not a confirmed minigame

An electric scooter rides past at 17:07, but a non-playable character is riding it and no controls are visible. At 18:29 several people sunbathe on loungers: that is set dressing, not a protagonist activity. At 19:04 Jason sits in front of a television during a narrative scene, with no menu and no channel change. Minigolf, pool and animal study appear in press round-ups; in our sweep of the footage we found no interface or prompt letting us describe them with the same certainty as basketball or racing.

The items and clothing menu

At 17:50 a menu appears with WEAPONS and ITEMS tabs, plus glasses, a cap, a hanger and FACE WRAP / MASKS, and later a sequence at a car boot highlights the appearance change again. That confirms an interface for items and wearable clothing. On its own it does not confirm a permanent limit on weapons carried, mandatory storage in the vehicle, or a copy of the Red Dead Redemption 2 inventory.

What it shares with Red Dead Redemption 2 and what it does not

The range of activities, the observation tools and the attention to appearance recall what Rockstar did in Red Dead Redemption 2, and they fit an open world that wants to reward exploring outside missions. But it is a design resemblance, not a fact: the video does not prove GTA VI reuses that game's health cores, honour system, witnesses, hunting or fishing, and no fishing interface or hunting activity appears in this cut.

Frequently asked questions

How many minigames does GTA VI have?
Rockstar has published no list. An Extended Look shows thirteen activities with direct participation, a HUD or visible controls. That is what a twenty-seven minute video shows, not the game's full catalogue.
Can you play basketball in GTA VI?
The video confirms it as an interaction: at 17:13 the AIM L2 and SHOOT R2 prompts appear with Jason in front of a hoop. What it does not show is whether full matches, teams or statistics sit behind it.
Is there diving in GTA VI?
Yes. At 17:16 a character with a tank and fins moves through an underwater cave, and the HUD keeps a status bar. Rockstar has not explained whether diving is free roam or tied to a specific mission.
Does the gym change the character's body?
Not confirmed. The video shows the bench press as an activity with its button prompts, but nothing about muscle, stamina or attributes. That it changes them is an expectation carried over from GTA: San Andreas.
Are there car and motorbike races?
Both, each with its own HUD. The circuit race shows lap, position among sixteen and a timer; the motocross race shows lap, position among twelve and rivals on the minimap. Whether they can be replayed freely is unknown.
Will there be fishing and hunting like in Red Dead Redemption 2?
Nothing supports it. No fishing interface or hunting activity appears in this footage. The resemblance to Red Dead Redemption 2 is in the range of activities, not in confirmed systems.
