Trailers and live coverage

We cover every official Rockstar broadcast live and break the trailers down shot by shot, with the exact timestamp of each capture.

Why this is not “Trailer 3”

Half the internet has headlined it that way and the mistake copies itself. It is not, and the three reasons are checkable:

  1. Rockstar numbers its trailers, and this one got no number

The videos on its channel are literally called “Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1” and “Trailer 2”. This one was announced as “An Extended Look”. The missing number is a decision, not an oversight.

  2. It does not run like a trailer runs

Trailer 1 runs 1:30 and Trailer 2 runs 2:47. This presentation is reported at around twenty minutes: that is not a marketing piece, it is a showcase.

  3. Netflix listed it as a film, not as a trailer

In its catalogue it shows up as a title of its own, with a genre and a detail page, under “action and adventure movies”. A trailer does not get programmed: it gets attached to a title.

And a practical consequence: the Trailer 3 slot is still free. With GTA V, Rockstar already kept its numbered trailers apart from the July 9, 2013 “Official Gameplay Video”, and seven weeks later, on August 29, it still put out the final pre-launch trailer.
