GTA VI: release date

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, a Thursday. It's the third date Rockstar has set, and the first one that arrives with pre-orders open and a price on the storefront. Here's what's confirmed, the delay history, and what's still unknown.

When does GTA VI release?

Rockstar Games confirmed November 19, 2026 as the release date. It's the current date and the one running in the site's countdown. What sets it apart from the two before it: stores have been taking pre-orders since June and the price is published on the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store. If it moves again, the notice will come from Rockstar's Newswire, which is where both earlier delays came from.

The three GTA VI dates, in order

The first trailer, from December 2023, closed on a bare 2025. In May 2025 Rockstar named an actual day for the first time: May 26, 2026. In November 2025 it moved again, to November 19, 2026. Rockstar announced both changes itself, in writing and months ahead — not a storefront, not a rumour — and gave the same reason twice: more time to finish the game to the standard its players expect.

Confirmed platforms

GTA VI launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no announced PC version: no date, no specs, no pre-order. Rockstar hasn't confirmed anything on that front, so the only thing to go on is the studio's own track record, where the PC build has always landed months after the console one.

Can it slip again?

It has slipped twice, so the question is fair. The facts: both changes came with months of notice, and there is no new notice from Rockstar today. The reading, which is ours and we label it as opinion: with two stores charging for pre-orders and a published price since June, a third move costs Rockstar more than the previous ones did. That's not a guarantee, and neither is any leak.

Price, editions and what pre-ordering gets you

Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026. There are two editions — Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99 — on the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store, and buying before November 20, 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack. Rockstar has confirmed there will be no disc version at launch: a boxed copy carries a download code. Prices in euros or pounds are set by each regional store, and we only publish the ones we've opened and checked.

How to follow the countdown

The live countdown has its own page, with the days, hours, minutes and seconds left and everything confirmed so far. If you'd rather we told you, you can leave your email right there and we write at every milestone and on launch day. Every official announcement lands in the news section with its source, and the arguing in between happens in the forum.

Frequently asked questions

Is November 19, 2026 final?
It's Rockstar's official, current date. The series has already moved it twice, so calling it final before the game is on sale is optimism. What is certain is the route: a change gets announced on Rockstar's Newswire first, and it lands here with that source the same day.
Will it launch on PC the same day?
There's no announced PC version, so there's no day one on PC. For GTA IV, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 the PC build arrived months after the console one: between seven and nineteen, depending on the game. That's Rockstar's track record, not a promise from them.
Will there be physical and digital editions?
Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 with two editions, Standard and Ultimate, on sale at the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store. Rockstar confirmed there will be no disc version at launch: a physical box, if one shows up, has a download code inside.
How many times has GTA VI been delayed?
Twice, counting from the moment there was an actual date. The first trailer, in December 2023, pointed at 2025; in May 2025 Rockstar announced May 26, 2026, and in November 2025 it moved to November 19, 2026.
Why was it pushed to November 2026?
Rockstar gave the same reason for both delays: it needed more time to finish the game to the standard its audience expects. It didn't cite specific production problems or outside pressure, and we're not going to fill that gap for them.
What time will it be playable on November 19?
Rockstar hasn't published an unlock schedule. In previous digital launches each store opened at midnight in its own time zone, and that's also how pre-orders opened on June 25. Until there's an official notice, that's a habit, not a schedule.
