Did Rockstar really want Daft Punk before Justice?

HasItLeaked, an account with a good record on album leaks, claims Rockstar pitched Daft Punk's management "a final comeback" for the GTA VI soundtrack with "essentially an unlimited budget." They said no, and Justice were supposedly the second choice (NME, Dexerto).

Rockstar hasn't said anything and it's a rumor, but it's a fun one: Daft Punk split in 2021 and both duos come out of the same French scene. In the end Justice is scoring the game and debuted "Flower in a Hurricane" with Tame Impala and SZA in the launch trailer.

Honestly, I think Justice fits Vice City's grimy side better than a Daft Punk comeback, which would have swallowed the whole conversation. Do you buy it? And would you have preferred it?
