Is GTA 6 in Spanish? Languages, voices and subtitles

GTA 6 is only partly localized: according to its Xbox Store listing, text and subtitles come in 13 languages, Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Mexico among them, while the voices are English only. There's no dubbing. Here are the 13 languages the store lists, how the two Spanish versions differ, how to change the language on PS5 and Xbox, and what Rockstar still hasn't confirmed.

Confirmed

Is GTA 6 in Spanish? Yes, in text and subtitles

The short answer is yes, with a caveat that matters. The Grand Theft Auto VI listing on the Xbox Store, which we checked on October 23, 2026, marks Spanish (Spain) and Spanish (Mexico) as interface and subtitle languages. Menus, the in-game phone, on-screen prompts and subtitled dialogue all read in Spanish from day one. What isn't in Spanish is the audio: the same listing gives US English as the only voice language. Rockstar hasn't published a language list of its own, on its site or on the Newswire, and the PlayStation Store listing doesn't show one either, so today the Xbox listing is the most concrete official source there is.

Confirmed

Dubbing: GTA 6's voices are English only

There's no Spanish dub, neither for Spain nor for Latin America. The Xbox Store lists English as the only audio language, which matches what Rockstar has always done with its big games: GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 also shipped with English voices and subtitles in every other language. That's studio history, not an explanation Rockstar has given for GTA VI. For anyone playing in another language it means reading: the cutscenes, the conversations behind the wheel and what people say on the street. In a GTA a lot of dialogue lands while you drive, so bumping up the subtitle size helps if the game allows it, something Rockstar hasn't detailed yet either.

GTA 6's 13 languages: text and subtitles

These are the 13 languages the Xbox Store listing marks for interface and subtitles, all with both: German, English, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Mexico), French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Of those, only English also has voices. Some absences come up a lot: the listing marks European Portuguese, Catalan, Dutch, Turkish and Arabic as not supported, among others. That's the store's list as of October 23, 2026; it can be corrected up to launch, and a PC version, which Rockstar hasn't announced, could arrive with a different one.

Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Mexico: two translations

The store listing them separately means there are two translations of the text, not one with two names. Rockstar already did this with GTA V, with one Spanish for Spain and another for Latin America, and the usual difference is vocabulary and tone in the subtitles rather than the story: where one says coche for car, the other says carro. What GTA VI's differences will be exactly, nobody has said, so the vocabulary point is our expectation. What is a fact is what doesn't change: the voices are the same English for everyone, and the Vice City satire is written for that English. Players in Mexico, Argentina or Colombia get the Mexican Spanish text when their console is set that way.

How to change GTA 6's language on PS5 and Xbox

On console, Rockstar's games usually follow the system language for their text, and GTA V did: if the console is in Spanish, the game is in Spanish. On PS5 it's under Settings, System, Language, System Language; on Xbox Series X|S, under Settings, System, Language & location. To switch between the two Spanish variants you pick that variant at system level, and the Xbox may ask for a restart. Whether GTA VI will also have a language picker in its own options menu, Rockstar hasn't confirmed; with the game in hand it's the first thing to check, because it changes the answer to the most repeated question.

Confirmed

Spanish-language music: Cocoteo FM

English voices don't keep Spanish out entirely. When it unveiled the first stations on October 8, 2026, Rockstar described Cocoteo FM as Leonida's home for modern Latin music, with bachata, merengue, dembow and reggaeton, two hosts, El Martillo and La Gata, and a tagline that already mixes the two languages. It's one of the six stations confirmed so far, alongside Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM and Dirty South Classics. The songs from their previews can already be played on the Leonida Hub radio.
