Is GTA VI rated 18+? Here's its age rating in every region

Not yet. With a few days to go, GTA VI has no final age rating in the US, Europe, Japan, Germany, Brazil or Australia. We checked the official PlayStation listing region by region today, September 29, and the only final ratings on it come from South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. Both are adults only, for what it's worth.

Nobody seriously doubts where this lands. Every mainline GTA since GTA III has carried the top rating in each system. Saying it's already rated 18+ worldwide just gets ahead of the paperwork.

What PlayStation shows in each region

• United States (ESRB): "Rating Pending", with Mature 17+ as the likely outcome. That's a provisional mark the ESRB allows in marketing before a final rating is issued. Also worth remembering: Mature means 17+, not 18.
• UK, Spain and the rest of Europe (PEGI): PEGI 18 provisional, with no content descriptors. PEGI still has to review the finished game before it becomes final.
• Germany (USK): pending.
• Japan (CERO): under review.
• Brazil (ClassInd): pending on PlayStation. According to 6charts, the Xbox store does show an 18 with descriptors, so Sony and Microsoft disagree.
• Australia (ACB): "CTC", meaning not classified yet.
• South Korea (GRAC): 19+. This one is final.
• United Arab Emirates: 21+. Also final.

The Australian MA 15+ claim

You'll see people say Australia already gave it MA 15+, one step below GTA V's R 18+. PlayStation Australia still lists the game as unclassified, and POPTOPIC found several "GTA VI" records in the Australian database that have nothing to do with Rockstar, including one rated G. Until the store or Rockstar confirms it, we're treating it as unverified.

About that Sony email in May

A PlayStation email in May showed the Mature 17+ logo next to GTA VI, and it's been repeated as a done deal ever since. It isn't a certificate. The ESRB database still has no GTA VI entry, and Rockstar's own site still shows "Rating Pending".

When the final ratings should land

No date has been given, but there's a practical deadline. The ESRB's "Rating Pending" mark is meant for marketing, not for the box, and physical copies have to reach stores before November 19. So ESRB and PEGI decisions in October or early November would make sense.

Why it matters

The label has real consequences. In the UK and Germany, selling an 18 rated game to a minor is an offence. In Australia, an R 18+ rating would force age verification for online play. And the ESRB's rating summary often spills details Rockstar hasn't talked about yet.
