Sam Houser pulls out of a major GQ interview weeks before GTA VI's launch
Rockstar's president was set to give GQ an exclusive interview that took four years to negotiate. Journalist Sam White says Houser has withdrawn, mostly for personal reasons.

Status: Report. Shared by the GQ journalist who was set to do the interview. Rockstar has not commented.
There won't be a big Sam Houser interview before GTA VI, at least not in GQ. Journalist Sam White, who was due to write it, said on X that Rockstar's co-founder and president has withdrawn weeks before launch.
What the journalist said
As reported by RockstarINTEL and iXBT Games:
- White had spent four years talking to Rockstar to land the interview.
- In April he was told Houser would take part.
- In recent weeks that changed, mostly for personal reasons on Houser's side, according to White.
- White said he's deeply disappointed: after all that work, he's left without the story of a historic launch.
Rockstar has not commented.
Why it matters
Sam Houser is Rockstar's least visible leader: he rarely gives interviews. A long conversation with him before GTA VI would have been one of the most anticipated pieces of the campaign.
Without it, the main voice is Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, who has already spoken to IGN and other outlets (see IGN's full interview).
What we don't know
- Whether Houser will talk to any other outlet before November 19.
- What the personal reasons are. White gave no details, and we won't speculate.
