Twitch CEO expects GTA VI multiplayer in 2027, but Rockstar has not announced it

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg he expects another audience surge "next year when they launch multiplayer" for Grand Theft Auto VI. That points to 2027, but it is not an announcement from Rockstar Games or Take-Two.

What Clancy said

The interview focused on GTA VI's likely impact on Twitch and the release calendar around it. Clancy said Twitch has spent time talking with Rockstar about creator engagement. He expects an initial bump when the game arrives, then a bigger one with multiplayer the following year.

The statement comes from Twitch's chief executive, not an anonymous account. It is still Clancy's expectation. Rockstar has not published a release window for any GTA VI online mode.

What Rockstar has confirmed

Rockstar and Take-Two's official pre-order announcement describes GTA VI as a single-player experience at launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It does not announce multiplayer, a name for an online mode, its features, or a release date.

Rockstar has said GTA Online will continue to evolve. That does not confirm how a future GTA VI online offering would work, whether it would share GTA Online's structure, or whether players would carry progress between them.

Why 2027 remains a report

The Game Business also quoted Clancy on the console-only initial launch and the lack of roleplay at that point. The context is consistent with online features arriving later, but the interview does not replace a Rockstar statement.

Until Rockstar or Take-Two gives a date, 2027 should be treated as Clancy's reported expectation. There is no official schedule, access detail, or confirmed name for a possible multiplayer component.
