GTA VI phone apps: RydeMe, WAiNK, Snapmatic and more

GTA VI's phone is no longer a menu: Jason and Lucia take it out and hold it. What's known about its apps comes from the August 2026 previews, where Rockstar North showed the game to IGN and Dazed, and from the official video "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look". Here is what's confirmed, with its source, kept apart from what isn't yet.

The phone, an object in the hand

In IGN's August 27, 2026 preview, guided by Rockstar North's Rob Nelson, the phone appears as an object the character holds rather than a HUD layer over the picture. It's a change of form more than content: you still open apps, but you see it in the world and not in a flat menu.

RydeMe: the taxi returns as an app

According to the same IGN preview, taxi fast travel returns through an app called RydeMe. It's the clearest answer so far to how you cross a map Rockstar describes as twice the size of GTA V's. What hasn't been said is how much a ride costs or whether it reaches every region of the state.

WAiNK: check a car before you steal it

WAiNK scans a parked car. In the preview, Rob Nelson reads out what it tells him about one: it's locked, it has an alarm and no tracker, how much it's worth at a Pay n' Spray or a specialty car fence, and how much it would cost to register it. It fits a game where stealing cars is hard again.

Texts: Jason and Lucia message each other

IGN reports that Jason and Lucia text each other about everyday events, even to say they're going to bed. It's the part of their relationship that lives on the phone, and the only messaging app Rockstar has said anything about.

Snapmatic and social media

Snapmatic returns, per IGN, with a catch: Jason and Lucia are criminals and can't freely upload photos of themselves. Dazed's August 26 preview adds that the game's social media feeds work and can be browsed on the phone, and that Real Dimez's career can be followed through their viral posts. Lucia names Snapmatic in the official video, but neither source explains what gets posted or by whom.

Watching livestreams in the game

Between 18:24 and 18:28 of An Extended Look a vertical stream appears with comments, a viewer count and the VIEW LIVESTREAM prompt. That confirms you can open a livestream from inside the game. It doesn't show that the player can broadcast, or what the app showing it is called.

What isn't known about the phone

There's no confirmation of a selfie camera, calls, contacts, banking, dating or shopping from the phone, or of whether apps are installed or all come preloaded. BuckMe and WhatUp, parodies of Cash App and WhatsApp, come from a 2025 domain leak, not from Rockstar. Lifeinvader and Bleeter, from earlier games, have no source for GTA VI either. Some creators describe more apps, one at a time and with no source beyond themselves.

Frequently asked questions

  • What apps does the GTA VI phone have?

The ones confirmed in the previews and the official video are RydeMe (taxi fast travel), WAiNK (scans cars), texts between Jason and Lucia, Snapmatic, social media and a livestream viewer. Other names going around are not confirmed: they have no Rockstar source.

  • Is there fast travel in GTA VI?

Yes, by taxi: according to IGN's preview with Rockstar North, it returns through the RydeMe app. Neither the price nor how far it reaches is confirmed.

  • Can you upload photos to Snapmatic?

Not freely: Jason and Lucia are criminals and, per IGN, can't upload photos of themselves as they please. What gets posted and how isn't explained.

  • Can you livestream in GTA VI?

All that's been seen is a livestream viewer, at 18:24 in the official video. Whether the player can broadcast isn't confirmed.

  • What is WAiNK?

An app that scans a parked car and tells you whether it's locked, whether it has an alarm or tracker, what it's worth and what it costs to register. Rockstar North's Rob Nelson showed it in IGN's preview.
