Rockstar researched Florida for GTA VI with trips to clubs, beaches and the Everglades
Rupert Humphries described research trips across Florida for GTA VI, from strip clubs and beaches to the Everglades. Here is what he said, without the exaggerated headline.

What Rockstar actually said
Rockstar's research for GTA VI took its team around Miami and South Florida. Rupert Humphries, the studio's senior vice president of narrative, told Game Informer that they tried to experience a wide range of places firsthand: nighttime rides with former police officers, strip clubs and nightclubs, beaches, the Everglades and the Keys. GamesRadar and IGN reproduced his account.
GamesRadar says the team made many reference trips over the years. That's different from the headline-friendly idea that developers spent years inside strip clubs. Humphries did not give a duration for each visit, name who went on every trip or explain what each stop cost. The years describe the broader research effort, not an amount of time spent at any one venue.
Looking beyond the club
The places on Humphries' list tell you more about the ambition for Leonida than the strip-club detail alone. Nightlife sits alongside the coastline and the wetlands; a ride through an area with former cops is a different sort of reference from time spent on the beach. He also told Game Informer that Jason and Lucia's story can't take players everywhere, but the team wants them to explore enough of the world to get a feel for its places and cultures. He described wealthy and poor people living next door to each other, with crime and corruption connecting their stories.
Those are statements about how Rockstar studied and imagined the setting. They are not a list of confirmed player activities. Visiting a place for reference doesn't tell us which buildings are enterable or how a particular location will work in the finished game.
The cover is a frame from Rockstar's official Trailer 2, showing a dancer by a pole in a GTA VI nightclub. It is not a photograph of the developers' research trips. The video establishes that Rockstar has shown a club interior, but this shot alone doesn't confirm what players will be able to do there.
What remains open
The original interview appears in Game Informer's GTA VI cover story, whose full text requires a subscription. The specific remark is quoted in the GamesRadar and IGN reports linked above. We can attribute the range of trips to Humphries; we can't put a number on the time spent at each stop or turn a trailer frame into a promised gameplay feature.
The interesting question is what those visits will contribute to the finished Leonida. The nightlife is easy to notice in a trailer. The quieter details of its beaches, neighborhoods and wetlands may be where the research has more room to show.
