The official GTA VI video reached No. 1 on Netflix with 31.1 million views

Netflix placed Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look at number one in its weekly global movie chart, with 31.1 million views between August 24 and 30. It is a platform metric, not a figure for game preorders or sales.

The Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look presentation also found an audience on Netflix. The platform placed it first in the global Top 10 for English-language movies covering August 24 to 30, 2026.

Netflix's table lists 31,100,000 views, 14,000,000 hours viewed and a 27-minute runtime. Those are the platform's figures for that week. They are not unique viewers, and they should not be added to YouTube plays or other audience estimates.

Rockstar describes the video as a presentation captured entirely with in-game footage on PlayStation 5. Its official page keeps the August 27 release date and links to Netflix and YouTube. The chart entry therefore refers to an official GTA VI presentation, not a third-party upload.

The Netflix number

Netflix uses "views" as a consumption measure in its Top 10 lists. That number is not a count of separate accounts, so 31.1 million views does not mean 31.1 million different people watched the video.

What it does show is straightforward: during its first counted week, the presentation reached a large Netflix audience. The figure is useful on its own. It does not need to become a sales forecast to be worth reporting.

What the number cannot tell us

The table does not say how many people finished the video, how the views were split between countries or which part of the audience arrived through each platform link. It also does not establish a direct connection with future Grand Theft Auto VI preorders or sales. Rockstar and Take-Two have not presented the result as a commercial forecast, and Netflix does not report conversions into preorders.

The game's release date remains November 19, 2026. Netflix's ranking changes neither the schedule nor the game's features, but it gives the campaign a measurable reach figure without mixing Netflix data with YouTube plays, social-media chatter or wishlist estimates.

A useful reference point

If new headlines appear about the campaign's performance, this weekly table is the cleanest place to start. It gives the period, position, runtime, hours viewed and views. Everything beyond those fields needs another source.
