What Rockstar announced

Rockstar Games has set Thursday, August 27, 2026 for the premiere of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a new official presentation dedicated to the game. The first window begins at 3:00 p.m. ET on Netflix. Six hours later, at 9:00 p.m. ET, the same presentation will arrive on Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel and the GTA VI website.

In Coordinated Universal Time, those releases correspond to 19:00 UTC on August 27 and 01:00 UTC on August 28. Rockstar placed the event on the front page of the game's website and formally announced it through the Newswire on August 6.

Netflix first, YouTube six hours later

The distribution plan is unusual for a video game campaign: Netflix gets an initial six-hour window before the presentation becomes available through Rockstar's public platforms. People without Netflix will still be able to watch it later on YouTube and the official website; the announcement does not say the presentation will remain exclusive to the streaming service.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick later told IGN that Rockstar considered Netflix a strong way to showcase the presentation and described it as an example of the company trying new marketing ideas. He did not reveal its running time, format or specific contents.

It is not officially called Trailer 3

Some fans are already referring to the event as the next trailer or Trailer 3, but Rockstar has not used that label. The published name is Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look. Until the presentation is released, we do not know whether it will be a traditional trailer, a gameplay demonstration, a narrated showcase or another format.

There is also no confirmation that it will reveal multiplayer, a PC version, additional editions, technical requirements or a revised release date. Those may be community expectations, but they are not part of Rockstar's announcement.

What is confirmed

  • The presentation is titled Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look.
  • It premieres August 27 at 3:00 p.m. ET on Netflix.
  • It reaches YouTube and the official website at 9:00 p.m. ET, six hours later.
  • Rockstar continues to list GTA VI for November 19, 2026.
  • The confirmed platforms remain PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Why it matters

This is the next dated official event for new GTA VI material before launch. The Netflix-first window also marks a different strategy: Rockstar is not simply uploading the presentation to YouTube immediately, but is using a major entertainment service as its first showcase.

Once the presentation is available, the useful standard will be to separate what Rockstar explicitly shows or says from frame-by-frame interpretations. Leonida HUB will update its coverage after the premiere without presenting expectations as promises.
