Updated Thursday, October 22, at 12:30 p.m. New York time. Rockstar hasn't posted anything new about GTA VI on its Newswire. What did arrive today is more of its Miami campaign: Burger Shot and Cluckin' Bell are now real at the Heat's arena. If Rockstar posts something later, we'll add it here.

What happened this Thursday

  • Newswire: nothing. The latest GTA VI post is still the October 15 launch trailer.
  • Burger Shot and Cluckin' Bell, for real. The Kaseya Center opened the Heat's season with two GTA VI food stands. The cheapest combo costs $28.50. Rockstar hasn't announced it, but it carries the game's logo (our story).
  • Macca & Friends premieres on November 19. At the same arena there's a mural for Macca's cartoon reading "Coming November 19 on Weazel": it airs on the game's TV on launch day.

Last week a page like this one ended with a trailer. We said not to count on it, and on October 15 Rockstar released the launch trailer. Now Game Rant has circled the 22nd as the next date to watch. That makes sense, but the pattern and what's actually been announced are two different things.

Where the date comes from

Since late August, nearly everything official about GTA VI has landed on a Thursday. On Rockstar's Newswire the run looks like this:

Add September 3, when PlayStation, not Rockstar, showed the GTA VI DualSense controllers. Accounts talking about "eight Thursdays in a row" are counting third-party drops too. On October 1, for instance, the Newswire only had GTA Online. It's a strong habit, but Rockstar has never said it runs on a schedule.

What could come

A few things are still missing and would fit a Thursday. Rockstar has only shown six stations, and this week street screens in Miami have been running ads for V Rock and Vice City FM, two it hasn't announced yet (our story). There's no review date either: Insider Gaming reported reviews would land before the 19th and then pulled the article (our story).

What hasn't been announced is any new video. Film crews have been spotted with the GTA VI cars around Miami this week, and some fans are calling it a live-action trailer shoot. That's fan speculation. Rockstar hasn't said a word.

The dates that are set

  • Thursdays, October 22 and 29 and November 5: the Thursdays left before preload.
  • Monday, November 9: Take-Two reports earnings (our story).
  • Thursday, November 12: preload begins (IGN).
  • Thursday, November 19: the game launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Before you share anything on Thursday

Cyberleek told its channel last night that a "new leak" was coming today. At 12:27 UK time it posted something that Telegram's web view doesn't display, and as of writing no outlet has reported what it is (the backstory). If you see something "new from GTA VI" on Thursday, check where it came from. A Rockstar post and a leaked clip aren't the same thing, and a site asking you to pay for the game is a scam.
