GTA 6 release date locked: November 19, 2026, and what the delay changes
Rockstar sets a firm date
Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games confirmed it on its Newswire, after moving the launch from the earlier May 2026 window. It's the first exact-day date the studio has held after months of "fall" and then "2026".
What the delay means
A six-month shift on a release this big is rarely a whim: it buys polish time, console certification, and a staged marketing campaign —trailers, gameplay and previews— that Rockstar doses out in the run-up. For the community, more waiting but less risk of a rough launch.
What's confirmed so far
- Setting: the fictional state of Leonida, based on Florida, with Vice City (Rockstar's Miami) as the heart of the map.
- Leads: the criminal duo Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, the first non-optional female protagonist in the mainline series.
- Launch platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version has no date; historically Rockstar ships it later.
So, a third trailer next?
With the date locked, the community is waiting on the third trailer and a first look at real gameplay. Rockstar hasn't announced it, but its usual pattern is to drop new material as launch approaches. Leonida Hub will cover every official drop.
