GTA VI is Game Informer's cover story: 14 pages, 12 new screenshots and weather that won't always be sunny

GTA VI is on the cover of Game Informer issue 382. The magazine announced it on September 25: a 14-page story built on interviews with several Rockstar lead designers, plus 12 screenshots nobody has seen yet. The digital issue goes live on Tuesday, September 29. Print copies are already shipping to subscribers and will reach newsstands over the next few weeks.

What the story promises

• How Rockstar built Leonida and brought Vice City back.
• Advanced weather systems that, in the magazine's words, simulate Florida's "less sunny weather phenomena".
• A "staggering" amount of wildlife, "native and otherwise", on land, in the air and at sea.
• Rockstar's research trips to Miami and Florida to get the look and culture right.
• 12 exclusive screenshots and original cover art of Jason and Lucia.

About the weather

This is the first time an outlet with Rockstar access has described GTA VI's weather as an actual system. Until now we had rumors and a patent or two, nothing official. But the announcement doesn't say hurricanes, floods or tornadoes. Until the story is out, all of that is still rumor, whoever is claiming it.

Same with the wildlife. The Extended Look already showed you can photograph animals for a sightings checklist. "Otherwise" sounds a lot like invasive species, which are a real problem in actual Florida (think Everglades pythons), but that's our read, not Rockstar's.

What's next

Game Informer has put every GTA on its cover for more than twenty years, and Rockstar tends to save details for it that don't show up anywhere else. We'll update this story on Tuesday with what the feature says and the new screenshots.
