Virgin Media will pay €800 to play GTA VI for 8 hours, but only if you live in Ireland

Status: Confirmed. It's a Virgin Media Ireland promotion. The terms come from its own website, which is clear: only residents of the Republic of Ireland can enter.

Plenty of people dream of getting paid to play GTA VI, and one company is actually paying. Virgin Media Ireland, the broadband and TV provider, is looking for one person to play GTA VI for 8 hours at €100 an hour: €800 in total, and it'll buy the game too.

The terms

According to Virgin Media's page:

• Who can enter: anyone 18 or over living in the Republic of Ireland. You don't need to be a Virgin Media customer or an experienced gamer.
• How: a form where you explain why it should be you. The page asks for "100–200 words", though the form field says "200-300 characters". Its advice: passion beats polish. You also need a public Instagram or TikTok account.
• Deadline: November 15. The winner will be contacted within seven days.
• The job: play for 8 hours from launch on November 19, spread across the week however you like.
• The catch: write an honest review and send it to Virgin Media Ireland for approval first. If approved, post it between November 20 and 26 on Instagram or TikTok, marked #Ad and tagging Virgin Media Ireland. And without showing anything from the game: no footage, screenshots, audio, artwork or Rockstar or Take-Two logos.

And everyone else?

Out of luck. The offer is Ireland-only. Reviewing the game without showing a single image of it, with the brand signing off first, wouldn't be easy either.

It's another sign of what's happening three weeks from launch: brands with nothing to do with games want a slice of GTA VI. Miami already has a real Burger Shot at the Heat's arena and beers with approved labels.

How much would you charge to play for 8 hours? Let's talk in the forum.
